About Bikram Yoga
What is Bikram Yoga?

Welcome to Bikram’s Torture Chamber!!!
Bikram Yoga is a revolutionary and demanding series of 26 postures (asanas) and two breathing exercises (pranayamas), performed in a heated room. Bikram Yoga is suitable for all ages and all levels of ability.
Each posture stretches and strengthens specific muscles, ligaments and joints needed for the next posture. The Bikram method also stimulates the organs, glands and nerves, moving fresh oxygenated blood to 100% of the body, restoring all systems to a healthy working order.
Bikram scientifically designed this 90-minute program to deliver total health through the balancing and strengthening of every system in the human body in order to prevent illness and injury, promote weight loss, and limit the effects of aging. In addition, the series of postures combine skills of concentration, patience, determination and self-control that increase mental clarity and reduce stress. Bikram yoga is done in a heated room to warm your muscles, prevent injury, allow a deeper workout and cleanse the body by flushing toxins. Each posture is completed twice. The first set warms the body up and the second set enables you to work deeper.
Mirrors are used to observe the body objectively, improving body awareness and refining body alignment. The constant eye contact with yourself reinforces the process as a open eye meditation.
The Bikram Yoga class is conducted by a qualified instructor who continuously utilizes a complex, comprehensive and distinctive set of verbal instructions to guide the students through the complete series. This teaches each student to listen, keeps the class moving together and quiets the mind to maintain stillness.
In time you learn to focus your mind and control your breath, leading you to work harder, deeper and yet calmer. As you improve this relationship, you will realise the true meaning of yoga: A UNION OF THE BODY, MIND & SPIRIT. The more you put into the class, the more you will get out of it and the more benefits you will receive.
It’s a wonderful journey. Be PATIENT with yourself and ENJOY!!!
